Lloyds stops automatic repeat prescriptions across Isle of Man

LloydsPharmacy has withdrawn its automatic repeat prescriptions service from all branches on the Isle of Man, local BBC media reported last week.

Residents on the island who have nominated a LloydsPharmacy store to process their repeat scripts have been asked to order seven to 10 days before they need their medication due to the multiple stopping the automatic service in its 12 Isle of Man locations.

Isle of Man chief pharmacist Maria Bell asked patients to “plan ahead” to avoid running out of medicines, advising that they can also arrange repeats through their GP or via the Patient Access app.

Ms Bell told patients that allowing sufficient time to have their prescription processed would mean there are “no interruptions to anyone’s supply of medicines,” and would also assist GP surgery teams “[as] we’re mindful of the impact this may have on them”.

Last August, LloydsPharmacy stopped offering automatic repeat prescriptions from branches on the island town of Ramsey, claiming that staff shortages had led to pharmacy closures and placed additional strain on the stores that remained open.

LloydsPharmacy has been approached for comment.
